In today’s world, competition is evident in every nook and corner of life. When it comes to the business terrain, each company has its own share of hardships, struggle and failures. Companies are in a fight to win consumer acceptance and loyalty. In that struggle for success, each one has to pay attention to changing consumer wants, needs, and values and to make the needed changes before the competition does. And the brand which reads the customers’ mind best reigns top in the competition. Let us take a look at the top brands of 2012.

Coca-Cola

The top selling brand in soft drink industry Coca-Cola retains the same place with only a 2% increase in its value. Its total value can be pegged at $71.86 billion.

IBM

IBM, the American multinational technology and consulting corporation headquartered in New York, comes next in the list with an 8% increase in its value. Its value is $69.905 billion.

Microsoft

Microsoft is the largest software cooperation in the world. But it dropped its value a little. In its attempt to promote Windows Phone its value has dropped 3% making the total value of $59.087 billion. If Windows Phone doesn’t click, they might drop a little more.

Google

It has been an amazing year for the most popular search engine and the manufacturer of Android. Google has succeeded in increasing its value up to 27% in the last year. Thus, it increased its total value up to $55.317 billion at the beginning of 2012.

General Electric

General Electric Company or GE, the most innovative conglomerate corporation company that spreads its wings in four segments like Energy, Technology Infrastructure, Capital Finance and Consumer & Industrial, had an unusual year of stability. It had neither profit nor loss with a 0% change in brand value. It has a brand value of $42.808 billion, the same as the last year.

McDonalds

When you think of burger, you have none other than McDonalds in mind. It is the world’s largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants, serving around 68 million customers daily in 119 countries. Though, its total value has seen a 6% increase, the brand value remains the same as $35.593 billion with a little increase.

Intel

Intel Corporation as everyone knows is a semiconductor chip maker giant. The company had a good year which helped them to achieve a big 10% increase in its value. It now holds a brand value of $35.217 billion.

Apple

Here comes the greatest achiever of them all. Apple Inc, which is the new word for technology, got a 58% of outstanding increase. If you think of the roaring success of iPad 2 and the all-time-high sales figures of the Mac it may not be a surprise for you. Apple’s brand value is $33.492 billion. If it grows like this, it will top the list in the coming years.

Disney

Disney, the third largest global media conglomerate, reached above HP with only 1% increase in its brand value. With this, Disney’s brand value became $29.018 billion.

HP

Although, HP achieved a 6% increase in its brand value, it could have made much more than that unless it ruined its profit with the HP TouchPad. HP now has a brand value of $28.479 billion.
